Joe spoke about whole department grading of TLI assessments.

A brief discussion was held about needing one or two, ½ day sessions to score TLI assessments.
It was agree that only one day would be needed to score the 2nd TLI assessments given. The department decided to use Monday, November 22nd for our group grading day.
The junior teachers briefly discussed using both TLI assessments for open-response and writing prompts and using 2, ½ days to group score and analyze the data for both the September assessment and the November assessment. The junior teachers would also like to use a writing assessment for Writing Essentials.
If a teacher wants to use Jedi for senior remediation, check with Christy Gore or Kelle Meeker to get help in setting up the Jedi assignments and enrolling students.
AIP forms – Each teacher received his or her students’ AIP forms along with the copies of a form letter to send to parents about remediation documentation and requirements.
The remediation letter needs to b e translated into Spanish. Kelle will send the letter to Ivonne Garrison for translation and make one copy on school letter head, and teachers will make the necessary copies for students whose home language is Spanish.
Teachers need to make a copy of the AIP before they send the original for parent signature.
Teachers will need to have Mr. Abernathy sign their students’ AIPs. Teachers will document the remediation process for each student with short, handwritten notes on the AIP form.

Literature Circle books, except for 12th grade, and 10th grade’s The Maze Runner are ready for check out. The books are boxed in sets and will be housed in the library/media center. Each box and the books in the box are assigned a letter designation – A, B, C, or D. There is also a student check out sheet in each literature circle box. Teachers check out the entire box of literature circle books through Anita in the library.
Valarie Horn conducted a focused, free writing session for the department. She then spoke about her experiences at the UCA National Writing Project this summer.
The meeting adjourned around 4:45.
